PREP ROUNDUP: Vikings down Wildcats

Jan. 17—Garrett Pugh had a game-high 23 points Wednesday night as visiting West Vigo defeated South Vermillion 68-61 in nonconference high school basketball.

Zeke Tanoos added 20 points and Talan Boehler 13 for the Vikings, who improved to 7-8 going into Saturday afternoon's home game against Western Indiana Conference leader Indian Creek.

Luke Bush led four players in double figures with 16 points for the Wildcats. Dom Garzolini scored 14, Aden Wallace 13 and Brayson Shoults 12 for South Vermillion, which plays Friday at Greencastle.

—Olney 65, Casey 44 — At Casey, Ill., the visiting Tigers remained unbeaten in Little Illini Conference play Tuesday by winning every quarter.

Connor Sullivan had 21 points for the Warriors, who are now 11-7 overall and 2-2 in the LIC. Casey plays Mt. Carmel at 2:30 p.m. CST Saturday at Newton in the Little Illini Conference Tournament.

Olney, 19-2 and 5-0, plays Paris at 1 p.m. CST Saturday at Newton.

Girls basketball

—North Knox 68, Sullivan 34 — At Sullivan, Class 2A's top-ranked team was too much for the Golden Arrows.

Jacie Wilson had 14 points for Sullivan, now 17-5. The Arrows play Friday at Cloverdale.

Alex McKinley led the 20-1 Warriors with 20 points. North Knox plays Saturday at Vincennes Lincoln.

—North Vermillion 47, South Vermillion 10 — At Cayuga, Cadence Dunham led a balanced attack with 15 points Wednesday as the host Falcons won in Wabash River Conference play.

North Vermillion, 9-10 and 3-3 in the WRC, hosts Covington on Thursday.

South Vermillion, led by Cambree Stivers with six points, are 0-20 and 0-5 and play Saturday at Riverton Parke.

—Parke Heritage 64, Cloverdale 22 — At Rockville, Parke Heritage set a school record with its 12th straight win Tuesday night.

Emma Simpson had 17 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and six steals for the winners and got plenty of support from Addilee Jenkins with 17 points, four steals and three assists and Addison Jenkins with 11 points.

Now 18-3, the Wolves face the only other unbeaten team in Wabash River Conference play on Thursday when they travel to Fountain Central.

Cloverdale, 2-18, got 14 points from Emily Mann and will host Sullivan on Friday.
