Preps: Hairston, Gore soar in Beavers' win over Red Devils

Jan. 31—BLUEFIELD — The Bluefield Beavers continue to gather momentum, extending their unbeaten streak to seven in a row as they racked up a 76-52 victory over visiting Oak Hill at Brushfork Armory on Tuesday night.

RJ Hairston generated his second double-double in as many outings, firing up 18 points while rounding up 11 rebounds for Bluefield (9-2).

Teammate Kamron Gore was also conspicuously happening, scoring 17 points with five rebounds while distributing an impressive eight assists.

Brett Samosky scored 13 points for the Beavers, Glen Keene fired up 11 points and EJ Washington scored nine. Sencere Fields had six points while handing out five assists and getting to eight rebounds.

Brett Conley led the Red Devils with 14 points. Malachi Lewis contributed 12 points, Cole Nelson had 10 points and Armonyi Hicks scored eight.

The Beavers will travel to Beckley to take on Woodrow Wilson on Friday returning to the Armory on Saturday to clash with the Flying Eagles in the Lil Tony Webster Classic.

MCA 57, Lewisburg Baptist 40

PRINCETON — MJ Patton scored 24 points to lead the Cavaliers in a home court victory over Lewisburg Baptist.

Patton added four assists and five steals for Mercer Christian Academy (9-10) while Eli Patton scored 20 points. Isaac Sharp had 14 rebounds to go with six steals and eight points.

Austin Beane scored 16 points for Lewisburg Baptist. Dulan Wykle scored 10 points.

Summers County 61,

Independence 47

HINTON — Ayden Plumley scored 26 points to lead the Bobcats past visiting Independence on Tuesday night.

Brandon Isaac added 17 points for Summers County (6-5) while Ryan Oliveros augmented his six point tally with eight rebounds and 10 assists.

Ashton Arthur led the Patriots with 19 points.

The Bobcats are slated to face James Monroe at Lindside tonight. Tipoff is set for 7:15 p.m.

PRINCETON —The Lady Tigers remained unbeaten after a lopsided victory over visiting Eastern Greenbrier.

Kylee Jackson scored 19 points for Princeton (12-0) while Brystal Winfrey had eight points and nine rebounds.

Addison McCabe had eight points and six steals for the Lady Tigers, while Maddy Anderson had seven points, eight boards.
