After secretly getting married on Friday, Princess Beatrice and her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi tied the knot in during a private ceremony in Windsor with their closest friends and family. But all eyes were of course on Beatrice's wedding dress, which we are absolutely in love with.

While Beatrice borrowed the dress from the Queen herself (no biggie), it's actually familiar for another reason - and that's down to how it perfectly mirrors Beatrice's mother Sarah Ferguson's own wedding dress back in the 80s.

Breaking away from convention, Beatrice chose not to opt for a custom-made gown and instead loaned the vintage dress, designed by Norman Hartnell, from the Queen, who wore it herself in 1962.

A statement from the palace revealed that Beatrice's dress "is made from Peau De Soie taffeta in shades of ivory, trimmed with ivory Duchess satin, with organza sleeves. It is encrusted with diamanté and has a geometric checkered bodice," and it's hugely similar to the Duchess of York's 1986 gown from her wedding to Prince Andrew.

Though there are some differences, both brides opted for gorgeous puff sleeves and an embellished beaded bodice, and it looks like Beatrice could have been inspired by her mum. Plus, the ivory Duchess satin material used for Beatrice's dress is the same that was used to trim the sleeves of Sarah Ferguson's epic gown, which was designed by Lindka Cierach.

While Beatrice borrowed her dress from the Queen, royal dressmaker Angela Kelly and designer Stewart Parvin also made a few tweaks to make it unique to Beatrice. But that wasn't the only thing that Beatrice borrowed. The tiara worn by Beatrice to walk down the aisle is also reportedly the same Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara that the Queen wore on her own wedding day in 1947.

Well, that's one sure way to keep things in the family. Head here to read everything we know so far about Princess Beatrice and Edoardo's wedding day.
