Pulaski County splits four games over past week

Dec. 31—The Pulaski County Maroons have been busy over the break, participating in a few out-of-town tournaments. In their past four contests, Pulaski holds a record of 2-2, winning a game apiece (at least so far) in their two tournaments.

On Dec. 23, the Maroons played a pair of games at the Gateway Holiday Classic hosted by Montgomery County. First, in their game against Taft (Cincinnati), Ohio, the Maroons were chipped by a final score of 69-67, marking their third-straight loss. Pulaski was led in that contest by Gavin Cook with 20 points, as well as 16 from Will Blankenship, 11 from Ethan Idlewine and 10 from Jalen Wooldridge. Other contributors included Zak Anderson with six points and 16 rebounds and Kade Hargis with four.

In game two, the Maroons were victorious against The Carmel School (Ruther Glen, Va. by a final score of 66-53. They were led in the win by Blankenship with 15, Cook with 14 and both Wooldridge and Idlewine with 12 apiece. Other scorers included Anderson with eight, Foster Fraley and Hargis with two apiece and Mack King with one.

At the Monticello Bank Classic hosted by Wayne County, the Maroons currently sit with a record of 1-1. They were victorious in their first game against Clay County (Celina), Tenn., but fell in their matchup against Russell County 55-51.

Pulaski now sits with a record of 8-4, with the Maroons matching up against the Harlan Green Dragons on Friday in their final game of the Monticello Bank Classic, before returning home on Tuesday to take on the Lincoln County Patriots in a 12th Region title game rematch. That game is scheduled to get underway at PC Gym at 7:30 p.m.
