Rafael Nadal dominated Novak Djokovic in a sublime display of tennis to capture his 13th French Open title and draw level with Roger Federer on 20 Grand Slams.

The Spaniard and his Swiss rival now jointly hold the record for most Grand Slam titles in the history of the sport for men in singles.

Nadal also failed to drop a set on his way to victory this year, bludgeoning his way past the world No 1 entering the final Grand Slam of the year.

The Serbian could not live with Nadal, failing to hold serve in the first game of the match and Nadal never looked back, taking a 6-0. 6-2, 7-5 victory in little more than two hours and 40 minutes.
