Rangers COULD use Hampden during temporary Ibrox eviction as SFA 'set' to offer national stadium

Rangers are set to be allowed to use Hampden Park as a temporary home when Ibrox is out of action at the start of next season, it is claimed.

It emerged yesterday that Gers would not be able to use their home for the month of August due to a delay in materials arriving from Asia as they make improvements to the Copland Road stand. The multi-million pound project was launched to improve disabled facilities and was previously expected to be completed in time for the 2024/25 action beginning.

But the delay means Ibrox will be out of action for league games and crucial Champions League qualifiers throughout that month. That means they would either have to play ALL of their opening matches away from home or find somewhere they can call home for a short period.

It was thought that Murrayfield in Edinburgh seemed the only realistic option because Hampden was soon to host two music concerts before having the turf ripped up and re-laid. But the Daily Mail is now reporting that the Light Blues WILL be offered use of the national stadium.

The Pink concerts are on June 28 and 29 and it's now believe that does give plenty of time for the grass to be re-laid and back in tip-top condition for the Premiership season starting. And as a result the SFA are said to be prepared to allow it to be used. The only other thing to take into account is Queen's Park will be playing their games there, so fixtures would need to be dovetailed.

Murrayfield remains an option but there have been no noises from the SRU on whether they would be willing to work with Rangers. Gers play Manchester United at the rugby ground on July 20.
