Peter Grant reckons Rangers face a 'nightmare' fixture scenario this weekend - because leaders Celtic play first.

The title race is drawing to a close and every game is must-win for Gers as they look to close the gap on their Old Firm rivals. The Hoops are potentially just TWO wins away from securing two-in-a-row ahead of upcoming clashes with Hearts and Rangers. And Brendan Rodgers' side could pile the pressure on the Ibrox side by moving SIX points clear on Saturday before Philippe Clement's men host Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Former Parkhead midfielder and assistant manager Grant reckons that would put Rangers at a major psychological disadvantage as they battle to wrestle the title back to Govan.

He told Go Radio: "This will be an interesting one this weekend because Celtic play on the Saturday and Rangers don't play until the Sunday. That is a nightmare at this time of the year. I've been there. When I was up here with Tony, I think we only played one Saturday. Rangers always played on the Saturday. We were in the Europa League at that time which was always a Thursday.

"It was a nightmare because you knew Rangers could win. You might be playing well but as soon as it gets to the later stages in the game, even when it's 0-0, everything gets rushed. The fans are obviously at the edge of their seats, they want you to score and it's a different mindset that you need.

"People keep talking about Celtic having the experience of winning it, there's about four or five that have got the experience of winning it. That could sometimes be a hindrance with the experienced ones, because the young boys go out with no fear.

"The experienced ones go out not to lose and that sometimes brings an edginess to it. That's why this period is interesting. If Celtic win at the weekend, then there's a completely different pressure on Rangers on the Sunday."
