Rangers transfer news latest as new signing announced and fresh 'target' emerges

Rangers' summer recruitment drive started in earnest some time ago and continues at pace.

They've now confirm their latest arrival with Liam Kelly in the door having completed his medical after returning from Euro 2024 with Scotland, where he acted as one of the back-up goalkeepers to Angus Gunn. It emerged weeks ago that Kelly was on the verge of a return to the club where he started out as Philippe Clement looked to add a homegrown player as an understudy to Jack Butland.

The 28-year-old was latterly captain of Motherwell but didn't agree fresh terms and left at the end of his contract, allowing Gers to swoop. After leaving Ibrox as a youngster without a first-team appearance, he has since played for Livingston, QPR and the Steelmen. Kelly has signed a two-year deal but is also on an extended break after being part of Steve Clarke's squad in Germany, so will join his new teammates after that.

He will now provide back-up for the Englishman with Jon McLaughlin having left the club and Robby McCrorie possibly on his way out. It's believed the 26-year-old wants first-team football but Rangers Review are reporting it will take £500,000 to prise him away from Ibrox. Aberdeen were interested but have since signed Dimitar Mitov from St Johnstone.

Rangers are also now being linked with a second Moroccan player - Couhaib Driouech - a winger who plays for recently relegated Dutch side Excelsior. Reporter Mounir Boualin says there is interest from the blue half of Glasgow after a season in which he scored and assisted eight apiece. However, there is also interest from PSV and Lens. Driouech has just a year on his contract and Excelsior losing their Eredivise status will pave the way for his exit.

Driouech has also starred for Morocco under-23s alongside Hamza Igamane, who the Light Blues are on the verge of signing from AS FAR. That is another one thought to be imminent.
