Karim Benzema starts for Real Madrid for tonight’s Champions League clash with Liverpool.

The forward has been struggling with injury all season but is fine for the game inside the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ferland Mendy is also in the squad after several weeks on the sidelines out injured.

The 35-year-old striker sat out the weekend win over Espanyol with an ankle injury, but Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Benzema is set to play despite the Clasico with Barcelona looming large on the horizon.

Real will not take the Reds’ visit lightly despite their three-goal aggregate lead from the first leg at Anfield.

Antonio Rudiger returns to the line-up after being rested against Espanyol.

David Alaba remains absent.

Rodrygo drops to the bench should Benzema start with Federico Valverde completing the front three opposite Vinicius Jr.

Starting Real Madrid XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Rudiger, Nacho; Modric, Camavinga, Kroos; Valverde, Benzema, Vinicius.
