Danny DeKeyser may never score a stranger goal.

With the Detroit Red Wings trailing 5-3 late in the third period to the Tampa Bay Lightning, the defenseman possessed the puck following a neutral zone faceoff and slapped it along the end boards into the offensive zone.

A funny thing happened with the puck along the way into the Lightning zone: It hit a stanchion and redirected before going right between Ben Bishop’s legs.

No matter the rink, those stanchions can provide for some funky bounces from time to time. Luckily for the Lighting Valtteri Filppula would restore the two-goal lead 44 seconds later en route to a 6-4 season-opening victory.
