Report: Texas A&M to host Brazil vs. Mexico friendly, seeking to break attendance record

Texas A&M's Kyle Field has seen some great moments like Johnny Manziel's Heisman year, Von Miller's dominance and Dat Nguyen's intimidating reign.

The historic stadium will welcome stars from the other football when Brazil and Mexico's men's national soccer teams face off in a friendly on June 8. Univision TUDN reporter Gibrán Araige was the first to break the news on Tuesday. He pointed out the proximity of College Station to major cities like Houston, Dallas and San Antonio as reason for Kyle Field to serve as the venue for the game.

Social media accounts for Texas A&M athletics, the Mexico national team and the Brazil national team had not confirmed the match at time of publication.

The match will seek to break an attendance record for a friendly. Kyle Field's stadium capacity is 102,733 after a $485 million renovation project ahead of the 2015 college football season.

It's unclear if stars like Neymar or Chicharito will play in the match. The Brazilian icon underwent knee surgery in October to repair a torn ACL. The leading Mexican scorer has not played for El Tri since 2019 and missed the 2022 World Cup. Last month, he made an emotional return to Chivas, the Liga MX club where he started his career.

Brazil and Mexico's soccer rivalry was ignited back in the 1970 World Cup when Pele and the Seleção won the tournament at Mexico's Estadio Azteca.
