The NFL world is very ready to see how Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady work out on the Buccaneers
It still feels weird to say, but it’s where we are. Rob Gronkowski has unretired, and the New England Patriots have traded him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to reunite with Tom Brady.
Arguably the greatest tight end in the history of football will return to the sport after a year of retirement and WWE competition. The news went from being just a rumor to very real in the span of an hour, and the world of NFL Twitter had plenty of thoughts.
if you dont sync up those cannons with Gronk's TD spike you have failed @Buccaneers

A decade from now, I hope Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski do a televised special where they explain exactly what happened in New England these last two years.

No human has ever screamed "Tampa" more than Rob Gronkowski.
That includes native Floridians and Jenna Maroney, who attended the Royal Tampa Academy of Dramatic Tricks.— Robert Mays (@robertmays) April 21, 2020
One matter that needs to be cleaned up: Rob Gronkowski is currently the WWE 24/7 Champion. Does he need to give up the title to play for the #Bucs? https://t.co/7Kpoa2ppN1

Let’s pump the breaks. Gronk & Brady still just the No2 Tampa power couple. pic.twitter.com/zerzbvKhtf

Above all, people were salivating over the thought of an offense featuring Brady in the pocket, Gronkowski and Mike Evans running downfield and Chris Godwin in the slot. It’s not hard to argue that is the best set of weapons Brady has had in his career,
That’s not even mentioning running back Ronald Jones and established tight ends O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate (more on Howard later).

Unreal. The roster isn't set, but Bruce Arians is gonna have a lot of fun designing this Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense. Evans and Godwin? Gronk as a third option? Brady will post absurd numbers.— Kevin O'Connor (@KevinOConnorNBA) April 21, 2020
No team's top 2 receivers combined for more yards last season than Chris Godwin and Mike Evans (2,490).

The Julian Edelman jokes were too easy
With Brady and Gronkowski reunited in Tampa Bay, the jokes about the third pillar of the Patriots passing attack in Brady’s last few seasons with the team were unavoidable. For what it’s worth, Julian Edelman remains under contract with the Patriots through 2021.

If the Bucs somehow trade for Julian Edelman that should automatically trigger a Last Dance documentary on the 2020 Bucs

The O.J. Howard trade speculation was pretty easy too
Edelman wasn’t the only player some thought might want to trade.
Three years ago, Howard was a can’t-miss tight end prospect that went 19th overall to Tampa Bay. Now, he’s the fourth option at best on a team run by Bruce Arians, who isn’t exactly seen as a fan of Howard’s. Plenty speculated Howard could be on the move between now and the NFL draft on Thursday.
Just about every fanbase with a need at tight end suggested their team sees if Howard is available, including the team that was just on the phone with the Patriots.
Buccaneers now are poised to have three notable tight ends - Rob Gronkowski, OJ Howard and Cameron Brate - on their roster.
Two days before the draft, they do not have any pending trade for Howard.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 21, 2020
Now let’s see who trades for OJ Howard
— Damien Woody (@damienwoody) April 21, 2020
If you need a TE you're suddenly very happy.
OJ Howard was probably already available. He's DEFINITELY available now and for a lot less than he was before.
In a weak TE draft that's a no brainer— Sam Monson (@PFF_Sam) April 21, 2020

Cowboys fans, would you trade a 2nd round pick for OJ Howard?
— Cameron Magruder (@ScooterMagruder) April 21, 2020
And that of course would free up a TE in Tampa. O.J. Howard would be a good fit in the Redskins PA pass game; middle and seams. Not a great TE class. Howard would provide immediate help https://t.co/qWMdqb8jd1

Hello #Packers, I’d like to introduce you to O.J. Howard. O.J., Packers. You two can take it from here.
— Michelle Bruton (@MichelleBruton) April 21, 2020
If they aren’t already, the 49ers should be on the phone trying to get a deal done to trade for O.J. Howard. He’s everything Kyle Shanahan is looking for in a tight end, and a perfect option to take some of the workload off Kittle. https://t.co/obMG0HK50K
