The NFL world is very ready to see how Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady work out on the Buccaneers

It still feels weird to say, but it’s where we are. Rob Gronkowski has unretired, and the New England Patriots have traded him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to reunite with Tom Brady.

Arguably the greatest tight end in the history of football will return to the sport after a year of retirement and WWE competition. The news went from being just a rumor to very real in the span of an hour, and the world of NFL Twitter had plenty of thoughts.

Above all, people were salivating over the thought of an offense featuring Brady in the pocket, Gronkowski and Mike Evans running downfield and Chris Godwin in the slot. It’s not hard to argue that is the best set of weapons Brady has had in his career,

That’s not even mentioning running back Ronald Jones and established tight ends O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate (more on Howard later).

The Julian Edelman jokes were too easy

With Brady and Gronkowski reunited in Tampa Bay, the jokes about the third pillar of the Patriots passing attack in Brady’s last few seasons with the team were unavoidable. For what it’s worth, Julian Edelman remains under contract with the Patriots through 2021.

The O.J. Howard trade speculation was pretty easy too

Edelman wasn’t the only player some thought might want to trade.

Three years ago, Howard was a can’t-miss tight end prospect that went 19th overall to Tampa Bay. Now, he’s the fourth option at best on a team run by Bruce Arians, who isn’t exactly seen as a fan of Howard’s. Plenty speculated Howard could be on the move between now and the NFL draft on Thursday.

Just about every fanbase with a need at tight end suggested their team sees if Howard is available, including the team that was just on the phone with the Patriots.
