It's the third round match between 17-time slam champion Roger Federer and 31-year-old Czech 10th seed Tomas Berdych at the Australian Open.

What time does it start?

At around about 10am on Friday January 20. It follows the Ashleigh Barty vs Mona Barthel match, which is scheduled to start at 8am.

How did they get to the third round?

Federer reached the last 32 with a four-set wins over Austrian veteran Jurgen Melzer, followed by a straight-sets victory against 20-year-old American Noah Rubin. 

Berdych only had to play one set in his opening round against LucaVanni who retired hurt having lost the opener 6-1, and the Czech then took out the American Ryan Harrison in straight sets. 

 

What's the head to head between these two?

Federer has won 16 of the 22 matches the pair have played against each other, including the last five meetings.

The Swiss player has won four of their six grand slam matches, including both previous meetings at the Australian Open. 

There has also been needle between the two players in the past, with Berdych bristling at Federer's suggestion he was carrying an injury when the Czech won their Wimbledon quarter-final in 2010

What has Federer been saying?

On beating Rubin in round two:

"I was just not doing what I was trying to do. I was hoping to play better at times.

"I think you can always do better. It's one of those sports like golf, you can always leave frustrated. Like tennis, you can feel: 'I could have always played a little bit better'.

"At the end of the day you have to be happy with what you did, as well. I have to be happy with the little things.

"Sometimes it's not going to be pretty. Sometimes it's just going to be a fight. Today that's what I thought it was for me.

"I guess I was hoping to play better offensive tennis and I struggled with that a little bit at times."
