Ronnie O'Sullivan hits 147 to seal second-round whitewash at English Open
Ronnie O’Sullivan capped off a dominant performance against Allan Taylor with a 147 to complete his 4-0 second-round victory.
O’Sullivan went into the match against Taylor under pressure to perform following his derogatory comments about the English Open venue.
But the Rocket turned on the style in a demonstration at the K2 Leisure Centre, brushing aside Taylor.
A scrappy first frame ultimately went Ronnie’s way, before a huge break of 135 in the second frame cemented his dominance.
Taylor had his chance to get back into the match in a topsy-turvy third frame that O’Sullivan won 55-43.
And that was the last opportunity that Taylor had, as O’Sullivan delighted the crowd with a flawless 147 to finish off the match.
O’Sullivan said of his 147: “I did think about it from the first red, because I thought ‘I’ve got to try and do something from this match, to get myself excited’.
“From about 40-odd I was in bits, I was twitching all over the place. My back arm was like a bit of fish, you know, flapping all over the gaff. It was nice to put on a break like this for a Eurosport event.”
