Royal Ascot tips: Moore and O'Brien the Order of the day

14.30 – Frozen Angel 10/1 – 1pt each-way

An impressive winner of a conditions race over course and distance two starts ago, he followed that effort with a strong-finishing second in the Listed National Stakes at Sandown after finding himself too far back. Trainer Tom Dascombe excels with his 2yo’s at this meeting and the Angel could add to his impressive CV today.

15.05 – Orderofthegarter 6/1 – 2pts

One of the more exposed runners in the field, Aidan O’Brien’s 3yo has been fighting it out at the top level over in France so far this year in both the Guineas and Derby. Back in calmer waters today, the son of Galileo should have conditions to suit and is the choice of Ryan Moore.

15.40 – Serenada 20/1 – 0.5pts each-way

The impeccably bred and unexposed Mori leads the market for this Group 2 but on the official ratings has over 10lb to find on her main market rivals. She may well prove capable of such an improvement but at a much bigger price, the same could be said for Roger Varian’s runner. Beaten only 2 3/4l behind the very smart Shutter Speed at York last time out, if she can build on that performance she stands every chance of being involved in the finish.

16.20 – Sheikhzayedroad 12/1 – 0.5pts each-way

David Simcock’s 8yo is an eleven-time winner, amassing over £1million in prize money across the globe. Third in this race last year, he’s arguably taken his form to new levels since and as he rarely runs a bad race, looks an each-way steal at his lofty odds.

17.00 – Ronald R 33/1 – 0.5pts each-way

A winner of a Newmarket handicap over a month ago, the runner-up that day is the current 6/1 favourite for this race. On that form at least, Michael Bell runner’s odds look huge and with plenty of places to play for, the each-way angle is the way to go.

17.35 – Never Surrender 28/1 – 0.5pts each-way

Right at the bottom of the weights, Charles Hill’s 3yo looks to have a mountain to climb on ratings but is taken to out-run both his odds and rating today. Only 7 lengths behind Derby third Cracksman in the Epsom Derby trial, he’s since gone on to break his maiden in dominant style at Chester last time out. The step up to a mile and a half should help and with former champion jockey Paul Hanagan on board, he rates a cracking each-way play.
