Former Swindon Town player Rushian Hepburn-Murphy has been snapped up by one of the club's former managers.

Scott Lindsey is looking to build on his Crawley Town side that achieved a brilliant promotion in the 2023/24 season and has secured the signature of the recently released forward as part of that.

In an announcement on Friday, June 28, Crawley Town said it was 'delighted' to announce that Hepburn-Murphy had joined on an initial two-year deal.

The player himself was also very happy to secure his next move.

He said: "I am buzzing that this deal has been sorted. I am really excited to join the club, and I can’t wait to get started in pre-season.

"The style of play really attracted me to the club, I watched a lot of the football at the end of the season and it really appealed to me.

"I also have a lot of familiar faces here, so it was an easy decision.”

As well as reuniting with coach Scott Lindsey, who was in charge of Swindon when Hepburn-Murphy played for them in 2022-2023, joins a squad with a number of other Robins alumni.

This includes Dion Conroy, Ronan Darcy and Ben Gladwin.

Hepburn-Murphy's career began at Aston Villa’s youth academy in 2015.

He made his debut for Aston Villa in the Premier League at the age of 16 years and 176 days, where he was the second youngest player in the club's history.

He is also the youngest player to appear in a match for the club during the Premier League era.

The 25-year-old has represented England at youth level on several occasions from U16 to U20 level.

After some successful loan spells in the EFL, Hepburn-Murphy left the country to join Pafos in the Cypriot first division.

He returned to the United Kingdom to join Swindon Town in 2022.

The striker scored six goals for the Robins in 28 appearances last season, with a tally of eight goals in 32 appearances in total.

On January 11, 2023, when Swindon were eighth in League Two, Lindsey was appointed manager of another League Two side, Crawley Town, on an initial two-and-a-half year contract.

In his first season, he kept the club up finishing in 22nd after a strong run of form towards the end of the season.

In his second season, he got Crawley promoted by leading them to a play-off final victory against Crewe Alexandra.
