Ryan Fulton joins Hearts as Steven Naismith completes second summer signing

Hearts have announced their second summer signing after completing the capture of Ryan Fulton.

The experienced goalkeeper has been a free agent since leaving Hamilton Accies at the end of last month. Fulton, 28, spent seven years at Accies and racked up well over a century of appearances for the club. Now, he'll provide competition for Zander Clark and Craig Gordon after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal at Tynecastle.

Hearts boss Steven Naismith said: “Ryan is a great professional and will fit in really well in the dressing room. He knows the Scottish game inside out having spent seven years up here and has played in the top flight. When you consider he came through the ranks at Liverpool and has played down south and for Scotland U21s, then it gives you a picture of the wealth of experience he has.

"Ryan’s not coming in to just make up the numbers. He’s a driven and determined guy who wants to push himself as far as he can, so to have him working alongside Craig Gordon and Zander Clark is going to be a big positive for the club.

"What this also allows us to do is give our younger goalkeeping prospects, who we rate very highly, the opportunity to go out on loan and gain more first-team minutes."

The announcement comes less than 24 hours after James Penrice was unveiled after joining from Livingston. Ross County's Yan Dhanda and Motherwell's Blair Spittal are also expected to be paraded in the coming days.
