Ryan Jack post Rangers transfer latest as SPFL manager admits interest

Tony Docherty admits he'd love to be reunited with Ryan Jack at Dundee.

The midfielder is a free agent after leaving Rangers and that is bound to have put Premiership managers on red alert. Docherty is one of them and having worked with him while Derek McInnes' assistant at Aberdeen, and would be keen to link up again but this time at Dens Park.

The Dee have lost defensive midfielder Malachi Boateng who headed back to parent club Crystal Palace and is being eyed up by other sides, so look to have a hole to fill in the middle of the park. Jack would bring plenty of experience from his time at Gers and Dons, including playing in Europe, and with the Scotland national team.

The Dens Park boss admits there has been no contact as of yet. But it's one he'd be delighted to make happen.

Asked if he'd have a chance of landing the 32-year-old, he said: "I’d love to think so. I love Jack, he’s a fantastic footballer and a brilliant person. But I’ve not had any conversations with Jacko. If you are getting linked with that type of player then…But it’s just speculation.”

There has also been talk linking Dundee with their former striker Simon Murray, off the back of a strong season with Ross County.

Pressed on that one, Docherty said: “Speculation. Everybody knows Simon is a Dundee boy so people put two and two together but Simon is contracted to Ross County. He had a brilliant season last season so I can understand why people would come to that but I need to respect that Simon is a Ross County player.”
