Saints reportedly 'approach' Bournemouth over talks to sign Aarons

SAINTS have reportedly approached AFC Bournemouth over talks to sign defender Max Aarons.

Russell Martin's side are believed to be looking at right-backs amid uncertainty around Kyle Walker-Peters' future.

Walker-Peters, 27, has entered the final year of his Southampton contract and has been touted with a move to West Ham, with Flynn Downes going the other direction.

Aarons, 24, made 20 Premier League appearances during his first season at Cherries having made the move from Norwich City last summer.

Aarons had reportedly been close to a move to St Mary's last summer before opting to join Bournemouth in the top flight.

Sky Sports report that Saints have begun work to revive their interest in the former England youth international.

They add that Bournemouth, who finished 12th last season, do not want to sell a key member of their squad.

Aarons made over 213 appearances for Norwich City, helping the Canaries win two Championship titles.

Southampton have already completed deals to sign Charlie Taylor and Adam Lallana on free transfers this summer.
