Scoring, defense and other takeaways from Lady Tigers' regular season

Feb. 15—The regular season has come to a close for the Tahlequah Tigers and Lady Tigers.

Both teams have quite a big break before hitting the hardwood again. By the time the Lady Tigers return to the court against Tulsa Edison, it will be a week since their last game.

With THS starting the playoffs here are the biggest takeaways from the regular season:

Diverse wins

After the Lady Tigers' latest win over the Booker T. Washington Hornets, David Qualls brought up the fact the Lady Tigers have won in a lot of different ways this season. Throughout the year the Lady Tigers' have been able to win numerous ways. Whether is it slowing down and focusing on the paint, or speeding up and focusing on their high flyers, the Lady Tigers keep picking up wins in different ways. Winning in different ways led the Lady Tigers to a perfect district season and the No. 1 seed in the Regional Tournament.

Scoring threats

Part of the reason for the Lady Tigers' success this season is the multiple scoring options on the roster. Throughout the season Kori Rainwater and Jaydyn Buttery have been the top scorers for the Lady Tigers. Even with those two leading scorers the Lady Tigers have seen big games from all five starters with Taylyn Dick, Jersey Retlzloff and Madi Matthews leading scoring at least once this season.

Defense in droves

Along with scoring at will at times, the Lady Tigers boast some of the best defense in the area. The Lady Tigers have impressed with teams scoring less than 20 points multiple times this season. THS has allowed on average just over 41 points per game. Along with that, the Lady Tigers limited the top-scoring Booker T. Washington Hornets to just 41 points when they played them the first time this season.
