Scott Brown accused of being instigator of Celtic Rangers bust-up as Neil Lennon reacts to Ally McCoist 'set-up'

Neil Lennon and Ally McCoist have accused Scott Brown of getting them in trouble with the infamous Old Firm touchline bust-up.

Brown appeared on talkSPORT last week with McCoist feeling he had been set up when Jim White asked for his take on the "tiff" between the then Celtic manager and Rangers coach. The Gers legend took it in his stride at the time despite joking he was being ganged up on.

Fast forward to this week and Lenny was a guest on the breakfast show and the argument that made front page headlines at the time was brought up once again. The pair have been great pals ever since and had a good laugh about it - including about the irony of Brown being asked about the incident.

Lennon said: "Al, you're asking the wrong man because Browny was too busy noising up El-Hadj Diouf all night. Them two were going at it hammer and tongs as well."

McCoist laughed: "By the way, you're not wrong. It was him that started it. And you and I ended up with the government having an argument about us!"

Alan Brazil moved the topic on to Brown as a player and asked his former manager how good he was to have in those fixtures.

The Northern Irishman said: "Listen, he was fantastic for me. A very underrated footballer. He had great power in his legs, he could run all day. And his football got better as he went on.

"As a guy in the dressing room he was absolutely fantastic. A great lad, very humble boy."

Last week's exchange

White: "You played in many Old Firm games. What were some of the craziest moments and what was your take on the famous McCoist Lennon touchline tiff?"

McCoist: "I didn't know I was getting set up Broony! I didn't know I was getting set up!"

Brown: "To be fair I quite enjoyed it - you took the pressure off me for once! I can't believe the two of you didn;t get a red card for that. But you kissed and made up?"

McCoist: "Oh aye. We had a bottle of beer right after it."
