Scotland fans can breathe a huge sigh of relief after Scott McTominay revealed his injury isn't as bad as first feared.

The Manchester United midfielder sparked huge concerns after appearing to twist his knee towards the end of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Burnley at Old Trafford. McTominay looked in real distress as he banged the turf and limped off the pitch with the help of the physio, prompting fears that the 27-year-old could miss the Euros. But the Tartan Army hero has eased worries tonight by revealing he expects to be back in action for United before the season ends.

He posted: "I slipped & fell awkward on my knee similar to against Chelsea. Nothing serious just hyperextension but I was angry and upset that I thought it was worse than it was. Hoping to be back on the pitch very soon to help the team as much as I can."

The news will come as a massive boost for Steve Clarke whose squad has been blighted by injuries ahead of this summer's tournament in Germany. No fewer than six players face late fitness battles including Nathan Patterson, Aaron Hickey, Jacob Brown, Kieran Tierney, Ryan Jack and Stuart Armstrong.

Bologna captain Lewis Ferguson has already been ruled out after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.
