With Chelsea continuously looking to bolster their attacking options, Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion has been recently linked with a move to the Blues.

It's no secret a striker is on Chelsea's shortlist heading into the summer transfer window, with Enzo Maresca looking to add more competition to the striker position ahead of the new season. Interest has cooled in Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran recently, with Atletico's Omorodion now being linked.

Despite new links to Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Omorodion would represent a move at the other end of the scale in terms of transfer fee.

The Spanish striker impressed on loan at Alaves last season, with the 20-year-old scoring nine goals in La Liga. Atletico may not be keen on selling the youngster, but it's reported that if he were to move away from the Spanish capital, a fee in the region of €40million (£33.8million) would be required.

So, if Chelsea could sign Omorodion this summer, what could happen? Let's take a look.

Chelsea's 2024/25 season simulated with Samu Omorodion

To set up this simulation, we used Football Manager 2024 to move Omorodion to Chelsea in the summer transfer window before simulating the 2024/25 season. This is how the youngster performed under Maresca's guidance.

Maresca was a big fan of Omorodion from the go, with the Spaniard quickly becoming a regular in the Chelsea side. Maresca liked him so much that he moved Nicolas Jackson out to the left and dropped Christopher Nkunku deeper to accommodate the 20-year-old.

In his first season, Omorodion was shockingly good, with the Spaniard ending the campaign as Chelsea's top goalscorer (19). 15 of his goals came in the league, with only five players in the Premier League outscoring him. Despite his incredible goal return, his overall performances weren't amazing, but with his goal tally, there aren't many complaints to be made.

At the end of the 2024/25 season, Football Manager 2024 put together an overall best Chelsea XI, based on performances, statistics, and other metrics. This is what it looked like:

Full Chelsea best XI: (4-2-3-1): Petrovic; James, Disasi, Fofana, Chilwell; Fernandez, Caicedo; Palmer, Nkunku, Jackson; Omorodion.

As expected, Omorodion made the Chelsea best XI in the simulation, with the 20-year-old starting in the lone striker role with Cole Palmer, Nkunku, and Jackson behind him. Reece James managed to stay fit all season long and make the best XI, while Wesley Fofana established himself as a starter after his return from injury.

With Omorodion in the squad, Chelsea ended the campaign as the fourth highest scorers in the Premier League, but they actually tallied up fewer points than last season, with the Blues picking up just 61 points.

18 wins, seven draws and 13 losses handed Chelsea their final points tally, but it was enough to claim a Europa League spot for the following season, despite finishing lower in the table than the previous campaign. Regardless of their Premier League finish, Chelsea were always guaranteed a spot in the Europa League, with the Blues winning the Europa Conference League in the simulation.

Omorodion scored twice as Chelsea beat Roma 4-2 in the Conference League final, handing Maresca a trophy in his first season at the club. A 2-1 loss to Everton saw the Blues leave the FA Cup in just the fourth round, while a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Rotherham saw Chelsea eliminated in the fifth round of the Carabao Cup.

Overall, FM24 predicts that Omorodion could be a fantastic signing for Chelsea, with the striker one of the Blues' best players in the 2024/25 simulation. The Spaniard was perfect for Maresca's set-up as he played a big role in Chelsea winning a trophy.
