Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has aimed a dig at Chelsea after it was claimed that striker Nicolas Jackson could look for a move away from the club this summer.

The striker arrived from Villarreal last summer, joining the club under Mauricio Pochettino. He scored 17 times in 44 appearances in all competitions last season, but is reported to have been unsettled by Pochettino’s exit from Stamford Bridge.

Giving an update on Jackson on TalkSPORT, journalist Alex Crook said: “He, I am told, is not happy about the managerial change and is possibly looking for a move away, a little bit of interest from Atletico Madrid so maybe one to keep an eye on.”

That prompted a response from Jordan. “Because he has done so well that he is in a position that he must be so sought-after,” he said. “Did Pochettino sign him? Oh no, Poch didn't sign players did he, no.”

Jackson was one of nine first-team signings while Pochettino was in charge with Djordje Petrovic, Axel Disasi, Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkuku, Romeo Lavia, and Moises Caicedo all arriving under the Argentine. Pochettino has since been replaced by Enzo Maresca, with Chelsea continuing to be linked with players for the summer window.

There has already been one arrival with centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo joining on a free transfer from Fulham. The defender was strongly linked before Maresca was appointed as head coach.

How much say the new boss will get on arrivals in the summer is still to be seen. As is increasingly common in the Premier League, the club’s recruitment team will play the biggest part in incomings.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with an interest in Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran this summer. If they opt to pursue that deal, it could potentially free up Jackson to leave the club.
