Simon Murray Hibs transfer interest as Easter Road side weigh up return for ex-striker

Simon Murray could be in line for a transfer return to Hibs as they weigh up a swoop.

The striker, 32, had a previous brief spell at Easter Road before being shipped off on loan to Dundee just six months later and then joining South African side Bidvest Wits permanently the following summer. But he is just off the back of a prolific Premiership season with Ross County in which he bagged 23 goals in all competition.

Murray is still contracted with the Staggies until next summer but the Hibees are considering an attempt to bring him back to the capital. It's understood talks have not yet taken place with the Highlands outfit, where sporting director Malky Mackay was previously manager.

That link could be a factor in where the livewire frontman is playing his football next season, with the Dee also thought to be interested in taking him back there. Some reports suggest Murray is keen on a return to Easter Road.

The Hibees currently only have Dylan Vente as a centre forward after Adam Le Fondre left the club and Myziane Maolida, who could also operate there, left at the end of his loan.

New manager David Gray has so far added centre-backs Marvin Ekpiteta and Warren O'Hora as well as goalkeeper Josef Bursik.
