Sir Rod Stewart admits he's a massive fan of Dundee star Luke McCowan. And the Celtic-daft rocker hopes Brendan Rodgers launches a summer move for the playmaker.

McCowan, 26, has been outstanding for the Dees this season and leads the scoring charts at Dens Park with nine goals so far. The ex-Ayr United winger was a surprise omission from the PFA Scotland Team of the Year but music legend Sir Rod reckons the Dark Blues hero is destined for bigger and better things.

McCowan will be unleashed against the Hoops this weekend as the league leaders make the visit to Tayside and Sir Rod believes he should be on Celtic's summer wanted list.

Speaking to Alan Brazil, he told talkSPORT Breakfast: "We can't take our foot off the pedal that's the thing. Dundee could be a problem. Have you seen this young kid McCowan? He plays for Dundee. Wow. He is superb, I hope Celtic have got their eye on him."

Sir Rod was in the stands at Hampden for last weekend's Scottish Cup semi-final classic against Aberdeen. The Have I Told You Lately singer watched on with his sons Alastair and Aiden as both sides played out an epic 3-3 draw, before Celts booked their place in next month's showpiece final against Rangers via a nail-biting penalty shoot-out.

The Scot added: "They were outstanding I actually felt a bit sorry for the Aberdeen supporters, they deserved a little bit more than that. If they can keep that up next year then they are going to be a top-four team, they were brilliant."
