Touching tributes have been paid to Kevin Campbell by his former colleagues.

Presenters on Sky Sports News wore dickie bows on Thursday morning - a nod to Campbell’s ‘dickie bow Thursdays’ when he would wear the accessory while appearing on the channel.

His colleagues also put together a montage of some of Campbell’s best clips, showing off the warmth and positivity he was famed for.

Staff on and off screen took part, with Sky Sports journalist and friend of Campbell, Alan Myers, sharing a photo that showed him wearing a multicoloured dickie bow as part of the tribute. He posted on X, formerly Twitter: “Ready for the morning meeting on ⁦Sky Sports News⁩ #Dickiebowthursday (Kev would’ve wanted me to wear the brightest colours).”

The heartfelt tributes were the latest to be paid to Campbell, affectionately known as Super Kev, following news of his death at the weekend. The 54-year-old had been battling severe illness.

Everton led the tributes to the former striker, who scored 51 goals in 164 appearances in Royal Blue. He is credited with keeping Everton in the Premier League with a stunning run of nine goals in just five games after arriving on loan from Trabzonspor near the end of the 1998/99 campaign. He went on to join permanently and scored the winner in Everton’s most recent Anfield derby victory in front of supporters.

The club, which has erected a giant poster tribute to him outside the ground, is preparing a tribute to him at Goodison Park for the beginning of the new season.
