Soccer Aid is set to kick off this Sunday, with the full line-ups revealing a host of former Liverpool stars ready to participate.

Conceived by Robbie Williams, Soccer Aid was born in 2006 as a charity match to raise funds for UNICEF. The annual fixture sees England face off against their rivals, Soccer Aid World XI FC, and over the years, the match has featured footballing icons such as Gianfranco Zola, Francesco Totti, Roberto Carlos, and even the late, great Diego Maradona.

The match has become known for its star-studded line-up, with big names from the worlds of film, television, and music going head-to-head with football's finest. Hollywood stars like Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson, and Damian Lewis are just some of the celebrities who have taken part since the game's inception.

In addition to the usual celebrity participants, this year's showdown will feature several ex-Premier League players from Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Spurs. On the sidelines, it'll be an all-Stamford Bridge affair, with Frank Lampard managing England and former Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino returning to his role as manager of the World XI while Jesus Perez, Pochettino's assistant at Chelsea, will also be in the dugout.

Liverpool's past is represented by ex-goalkeeper David James and Joe Cole, who will also be returning to Stamford Bridge after several successful years there. Chelsea's hall of fame is heavily represented though with the likes of Eden Hazard, Petr Cech, Michael Essien, Gary Cahill, John Obi Mikel as well as Chelsea Women's star Karen Carney.

They'll be joined by Tottenham's former forward Jermain Defoe, Arsenal veterans David Seaman and Jack Wilshere, and England Women's icon Jill Scott, with Harry Redknapp providing managerial insight alongside Lampard and Robbie Williams.

The event isn't just for football royalty; it also attracts stars from other spheres. Olympic legends Usain Bolt and Sir Mo Farah, DJ Roman Kemp, actor Martin Compston, podcaster and ex-boxer Tony Bellew, boxer Tommy Fury, and entrepreneur Steven Bartlett are set to play. New to the squad in 2024 are cricket's Stuart Broad, reality TV's Sam Thompson, and Strictly's Bobby Brazier.

This year, the England squad will be donning a specially designed Euro '96 kit remake for the match, which is scheduled just five days before the Euro 2024 kick-off in Germany. The World XI will also sport a unique and limited edition Adidas kit.

Since its inception in 2006, England have clinched victory five times, although their last win was back in 2018. The World XI have triumphed seven times, with last year marking their fifth consecutive championship title.

The previous fixture saw the World XI secure a 4-2 victory. As always, all proceeds from the event will go towards Unicef's efforts to protect children from disease and malnutrition, support their mental health, and provide assistance during crises in war-torn countries.
