Social Chatter: Jose Mourinho’s no better than Louis Van Gaal or David Moyes

James Matthews finds social media was in no mood to go easy on Jose Mourinho or Paul Pogba after Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat to Chelsea.

There was no sign of mercy for Jose Mourinho after his Manchester United side were beaten 4-0 on his return to Chelsea.

Mourinho’s hopes of proving the Chelsea doubters wrong went out of the window after just 30 seconds when Pedro opened the scoring at Stamford Bridge.

It got no better for United either on a dire afternoon in the capital as they slumped to a 4-0 defeat.

And there was no sympathy at all for Mourinho on social media afterwards as statistic after statistic showed how disappointing the start to his reign at Old Trafford has been.

It was Mourinho and Paul Pogba who took most of the abuse - and blame - for United’s defeat, but there was little to note from anyone in red.

Even one of his former players was in the mood to take the mickey.

Lord Sugar, never shy in tweeting about other clubs than his beloved Tottenham, wondered what Sir Alex Ferguson would make of the mess at United.

And one tweet possibly hit the nail on the head!

Then it was Pogba’s turn for the abuse from the keyboard warriors. In fairness, he was missing in action at Stamford Bridge.

It was Chelsea duo Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante who dominated the midfield with Pogba enduring an afternoon to forget - and Gary Lineker brought up a worrying fact.

It provided fans with the perfect ammunition…

Even the parody Pogba account was making fun of the midfielder’s performance.

But Robbie Savage opted to turn the attention back on Mourinho and questioned just how much blame the United manager should be taking for the defeat.

Although he is still working with the squad largely assembled by Louis Van Gaal, Mourinho has spent heavily. So is he to blame questioned Savage?
