Former England captain Michael Vaughan was not happy with the way India wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has batted in the whole series and especially the way he got out in the ongoing fourth Test match against England at the Oval.

India was asked to bat first after losing the toss in the 4th Test match and their batting collapsed again. Chris Woakes and Ollie Robinson ran through the Indian batting lineup as opener Rohit Sharma (11) and KL Rahul (17) were dismissed on a pitch that offered some bounce and movement.

Cheteshwar Pujara was back into his terrible form again as he was dismissed for 4 runs off 31 balls, while Ravindra Jadeja was promoted to no.5 above Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant, but managed just 10 runs.

India captain Virat Kohli looked like his old confident self as he stroked a brilliant 50 with 8 fours to his name. However, a jaffa from Robinson sent him back to the pavilion. Much was expected from Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant, hoping that they would rescue the team from this turmoil.

Ajinkya Rahane struggled for 47 balls making 14 runs, but the most disappointing and needless wicket was that of Rishabh Pant. Pant had become the darling of Indian fans and experts thanks to his exploits in the Test series in Australia, where he played amazing knocks in Sydney and Brisbane, helping India win their second straight Test series down under.

He was also instrumental in India beating England 3-1 at home, including a century in Ahmedabad. However, he has badly struggled as soon as he landed in England. He had 96 runs in 6 innings in England and on day one of the 4th Test, he got out trying to hit his way out of a rut.

England captain Michael Vaughan called his dismissal ‘rubbish’ and hinted that the excuse of ‘this is the way he bats’ can no longer be valid.

That’s just the way I play !!!!!!!!!!! Sorry but that was rubbish …. but England have bowled very very well today …. #ENGvIND” Vaughan tweeted.
