Analysis of Google search data by online casino site Playcasino.com has revealed online searches for “Southgate Out” have soared by 438.5% between England’s 1-0 Iceland defeat on Friday 7th June and nervy 1-0 victory against Serbia on Sunday, June 16.

The new findings have come after a few controversial decisions made by the manager such as not selecting fan favourite Jack Grealish for his final 26-man squad and criticisms surrounding Phil Foden’s performance based on Southgate’s choice to play him on the left and not in the middle.

#southgateout is also trending on Twitter.

The Three Lions take will face Denmark on Thursday 20th June, with the whole nation behind them in hopes this year, it is coming home.

Is Southgate the problem? It seems win or lose, this may be Gareth Southgate’s last big tournament pending his expiring contract at the end of this year.

Nathan Vega - Head of Marketing from Playcasino.com has commented on the findings:

“It is no secret that the England team is prone to heartbreak when it comes to big tournaments. The UEFA Euro 2020 was the ultimate devastation in which they narrowly missed out on becoming European champions to Italy in their home stadium of Wembley.

“The whole nation are behind the England squad as they venture further into the tournament but after so many years of hurt, fans are now questioning whether Gareth Southgate is the reason for too many close calls and no victories.

“Should Southgate be given the boot if the Three Lions fail to bring it home? Fans seem to think so, but a victory could mean a potential contract extension”.
