Sport: Glasgow to host 10k run which offers wine instead of water

Glasgow will host possibly the first ever 'wineathlon' - a 10km race where wine is served instead of water at rest stops.

What do you get when you cross a pub crawl with a marathon?

Glasgow is about to find out.

That's because the Scottish city will host a 10km race that will offer wine, rather than the usual water, at rest stops.

Hundreds of people have already signed up for the September 24 race, described as an ‘easy trail’ that puts ‘the fun back into running.’

There will be a rest stop every two miles and they will each stock a wine from a different region of the world, the bottles will be also be available for purchase at the end of the race.

The event is obviously only open to people over the age of 18, and organisers stress photo ID may be required before taking part.
