With Standard BioTools Up 29%, Insider Buyers Count Their Returns \

Standard BioTools Inc. (NASDAQ:LAB) insiders who purchased shares in the last 12 months were richly rewarded last week. The stock climbed by 29% resulting in a US$44m addition to the company’s market value. Put another way, the original US$194k acquisition is now worth US$213k.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Standard BioTools Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent purchase by Jeffrey Black is the biggest insider purchase of Standard BioTools shares that we've seen in the last year. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at around the current price of US$2.48. That means they have been optimistic about the company in the past, though they may have changed their mind. We do always like to see insider buying, but it is worth noting if those purchases were made at well below today's share price, as the discount to value may have narrowed with the rising price. In this case we're pleased to report that the insider bought shares at close to current prices. Jeffrey Black was the only individual insider to buy during the last year.

What Might The Insider Transactions At Standard BioTools Tell Us?

It's certainly positive to see the recent insider purchase. We also take confidence from the longer term picture of insider transactions.
