Steve Clarke branded 'rude' by Argentine chief after furious referee rant in Hungary aftermath

Steve Clarke has been branded "RUDE" for his slaughtering of referee Facundo Tello in the aftermath of Scotland's defeat to Hungary.

The head coach was livid at the whistler's decision not to award what he described as a "100 percent" penalty for an alleged foul on Stuart Armstrong during what was a must-win game for the Scots. Clarke's furious media conference after the whistle called out Tello for his inability to see a clear infringement as the boss complained that a European ref should have been in charge over an Argentine.

The complaint and comments have been pored over by pundits but now Argentinian chief Miguel Scime - director of Institute of Argentina Refereeing - has hit out at Clarke.

"That was a very good job by Facundo Tello and his team of assistants, Gabriel Chade and Ezequiel Brailovsky for the match between Scotland and Hungary," Scime said. "I was sorry Scotland tried to justify their failure to qualify with the comments the coach made.

"It wasn't a penalty and his comments after the game were just rude. No one has the right to criticise the refereeing team in that way."

Clarke could potentially be hit with a punishment for his comments.
