Steve Stricker WDs from Senior PGA Championship with COVID-19 after health scare
Just weeks after he returned to the course, Steve Stricker is out once again.
Stricker withdrew from the PGA Tour Champions’ KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship this week after he said he tested positive for COVID-19. Stricker now will miss the second major of the season in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

The news for the former U.S. Ryder Cup captain comes after a terrifying battle with a “mysterious ailment” that left him hospitalized twice in the past six months.
Stricker revealed in January that he became sick in November with a “nagging, non-COVID-related virus” that landed him in the hospital twice. He said he got a sore throat and then started dealing with inflammation around his heart, which went in and out of rhythm for weeks. He lost about 25 pounds during the ordeal.
The 55-year-old returned to the PGA Tour Champions earlier month at the Insperity Invitational, and picked up like he never left. He finished in a tie for second there, and then won the Regions Tradition two weeks ago — which marked his eighth win on the senior Tour.
It’s unclear when Stricker will try to return. This would have been his fourth event in five weeks.
Stricker won 12 times on the PGA Tour, most recently at the 2012 Hyundai Tournament of Champions. He then started playing on the PGA Tour Champions in 2017.
