Stoke Fan View: Last game of the season brings relief to all Stoke fans that it's over.

Will youth finally get it’s chance?

The term dead rubber is a perfect way to describe this game. Both teams really have nothing to play for so I wouldn’t be surprised if youth players became a feature in this match. In a season that has been massively underwhelming, it would be nice for fans to see a positive and have a look at what the academy has produced.

With huge investment in the academy over the years, it would be nice to see the likes of Julien Ngoy making a cameo to give the fans something positive to look forward to next season.

In a season which has provided very little highs, it would be a great way to sign off the season by letting the kids play, giving them a chance of exposure on the highest stage. Letting them play just under 23 football won’t do anything, first team football is the only way they’ll reach their potential.

Play football that excites the fans not stuff that is boring and direct

One of the main reasons Hughes has lost a lot of the fan base this season is due to the dismal football on show. It’s gone from Stokealona to football that at times can only be described as extremely poor, not what we expected when going into the new season.

It’s a bizarre turn of events as his original philosophy of playing attacking attractive football has been thrown out the window. We as fans have been left utterly bemused as the last 18 months have seen Hughes turn on everything that made him successful.

If he can go back to playing delightful football he will win back the hearts of Stoke fans. However, if he doesn’t get it right next off season, it could see fan pressure force the boards hand into a change of manager.

It’s a scenario no Stoke fan wants to see, but if Hughes doesn’t get his finger out and get the great style of play back, there could be some unsavoury scenes as he may not be in the job for much longer.
