Enniskillen Gael 2-14 Ederney 1-05

A strong second half from Enniskillen Gaels saw them eventually coast to a 12-point victory over Ederney on Tuesday evening.

The game was nip and tuck for the first half with only a point separating the sides at the break but the Gaels upped their performance in the second period.

The Gaels were on top in the second half when Ederney's challenge was dealt a blow following Niall Maguire's sending off for what appeared to be a strike on Richie O'Callaghan.

Gaels coach, Aidan McCarron was happy with his side's second-half display.

"We said at half-time we were a bit too chaotic. Our shape went and we spoke about not doing everything at 100mph but get settled, get the right men on the ball and make the pitch as big as possible.

"We did this in the second half and we were also pleased with our defensive attitude.

"Overall pleased to get another win."

Conor McShea hit the first score after two minutes following good build play by the Gaels.

But Ederney were quick to respond.

An attempted shot from Chris Snow dropped short and Pól McKervey challenged the keeper and as the ball fell away Ross Bogue dragged McKervey back giving the referee little option but pointing to the spot.

Snow stepped up and made no mistake, finding the net.

Then an interception by Shaun McCarron sent Ederney on the attack and Shea Deazley was put through but he opted to pop the ball over, 1-01 to 0-01 after six minutes.

It would be 12 minutes before Ederney would score again while the Gaels would hit three in a row.

Pressure on the Ederney kickout allowed Jack Tierney to point before Callum Jones fired over a good score.

And when Ethan Beresford converted a mark it was all square after 12 minutes.

On 18 minutes, McKervey converted a free to mover Ederney back in front but this was cancelled out by a fine Bogue score.

Deazley would get his second point of the game after taking a pass from Paul McCusker but two Jones frees left it 0-07 to 1-03 at the break in Enniskillen's favour.

It could have been a lot worse for Ederney as a long ball in towards Conor Love saw tow Ederney defenders go for it and it fell kindly to the attacker. But his shot was well saved by Snow.

The second half would see Ederney hit the first score to level the game as a poor pass allowed the visitors to attack and Declan McCusker would point.

But this would their only score until near the end of the game.

Jones gave a quick response for the Gaels and they hit their first goal on 40 minutes.

McShea somehow managed to jink his way through several tackles before the ball went to Love and he made no mistake this time firing to the roof of the net.

Jones hit two frees and Love got his first point of the game to make it 1-11 to 1-04 with 10 minutes to play.

Beresford squandered another goal chance following a Gales counter attack but quickly made amends two minutes later to make it 2-11 to 1-04.

Love and Jones would again find the target before Ryan Morris tapped over a free for Ederney.

But it was the Gaels who had the last say as some lovely interplay put Love in space to round off a 2-14 to 1-05 win.
