SUNY Delhi's season ends with close loss in NAC West Final

Feb. 19—The SUNY Delhi men's basketball team saw its season come to an end Saturday in a close 84-82 loss to SUNY Cobleskill in the NAC West Division Final.

A trio of strong performances by Isiah Barnes, Marven Louissaint and Lester McCarthy stood out in the loss for the Broncos.

Barnes scored a team-high 26 points to go with five assists, Louissaint had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds and McCarthy finished with 17 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and five steals.

Delhi finishes the season with an overall record of 14-13.

SUNY Plattsburgh 84, SUNY Oneonta 74 (Saturday)

SUNY Oneonta fell to SUNY Plattsburgh 84-74 Saturday in the Red Dragons' regular season finale.

Elijah Castillo was Oneonta's top scorer with 21 points while Xavier Hill finished with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Elsewhere, Graham Wooden had 13 points and eight rebounds and Daniel Penubothula pulled down 11 boards.

Oneonta (12-13 overall, 9-9 SUNYAC) will be at SUNY Brockport in Tuesday's SUNYAC Tournament contest.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

SUNY Plattsburgh 50, SUNY Oneonta 48 (Saturday)

The SUNY Oneonta women fell in their regular season finale Saturday 50-48 to SUNY Plattsburgh.

Sophia Wakin led the Red Dragons with 14 points and eight rebounds while Amanda Zuntag had 13 points and six boards and Jenna Harclerode notched a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Oneonta (10-15 overall, 8-10 SUNYAC) will visit SUNY Geneseo in the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament Tuesday.

MEN'S LACROSSE

The SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse team opened its 2024 season Saturday with a convincing 18-6 win over Thiel.

Jackson Murphy led the scoring for the Broncos with four goals while Benjamin Moscatiello and Chris Lazazzaro each had three goals. Moscatiello added four assists in the win while Jagger Beachak had two goals and four assists.

Mike Triolo made seven saves in net while Matt Mulrooney added in another stop in a brief appearance.

Delhi will be on the road next Saturday against Mount Saint Vincent.
