SUNY Oneonta basketball teams sweep Buffalo State

Jan. 15—The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team overcame a late 10-point deficit Saturday to defeat Buffalo State 71-69 on the road.

Nadia Brown secured the win by making a pair of free throws with 0.4 seconds left on the clock. Brown finished with 10 points in the win.

Molly Stephens had a team-high 29 points to go with eight rebounds while Janna Harclerode notched 13 points and eight rebounds and Amanda Zuntag added seven points and nine rebounds.

The Red Dragons (4-8 overall, 2-3 SUNYAC) will host SUNY Cortland Tuesday.

Hartwick 60, Elmira 51 (Saturday)

Hartwick held off Elmira for a 60-51 home win Saturday.

Sareena DiCerbo notched a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead the way in the victory while Bree Fargnoli had 13 points and Macy Durkin finished with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Hartwick (5-8 overall, 3-3 Empire 8) will visit Russell Sage Wednesday.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

SUNY Oneonta 87, Buffalo State 68 (Saturday)

The SUNY Oneonta men used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Buffalo State 87-68 on the road Saturday.

PJ Laidley led the way with 16 points while Graham Wooden and Elijah Castillo scored 13 points apiece and Javen Flowers-Smith added 11.

Oneonta (5-8 overall, 2-3 SUNYAC) will be at home against SUNY Cortland Tuesday.

SUNY Delhi 67, Maine Maritime 66 (Saturday)

Warren Davis' last-second buzzer-beater gave SUNY Delhi a 67-66 victory over Maine Maritime Saturday as the Broncos overcame a 15-point halftime deficit.

Five Delhi players scored in double-figures, with Lester McCarthy netting 13, Isiah Barnes scoring 12, Davis and Noah Colin each scoring 11 and Javontay Pipkin finishing with 10.

Delhi (9-5 overall, 4-1 NAC) will visit VTSU Lyndon Tuesday.

Hartwick was unable to keep up with Elmira in Saturday's 93-74 home loss.

Cooper Francis scored a team-high 18 points to go with eight rebounds and four assists, Jaden Carter scored 16 points and had five assists and Alex Klybas finished with 10 points.

The Hawks (1-12 overall, 0-6 Empire 8) will be at Russell Sage Wednesday.

WRESTLING

The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team placed fourth out of 17 teams at Saturday's Will Abele Invitational at Ursinus College.

Carson LiCastri finished first overall in the 197-pound division while Kenneth Sauer (174), Max Yahre (157), Danny Poggi (133), Kennith Jackson (heavyweight) and Jack Ryan (184) each placed in the top eight of their respective classes.

The Red Dragons will be at Nassau Community College this Saturday for the New York State Collegiate Championships.
