Reading are set for a stress-free 2024/25 League One campaign according to the supercomputer.

After a decade of almost purely bottom-half finishes, it is more of the same for the coming year according to the Grosvenor Sport SuperComputer with a 14th-place finish.

However, 16 points clear of the relegation zone will be a welcomed stress-free end to the season compared to recent years.

Ruben Selles' side were 10 points adrift at the foot of the table in November last season, but rallied in the New Year to end nine points better off than those relegated and in 17th.

Birmingham City are set for an instant return to the Championship, with Blackpool also joining them in the second tier in 2025.

Lincoln City, Bolton Wanderers, Huddersfield Town and Peterborough United are all set to clinch playoff places as a result of strong seasons, with Wycombe Wanderers missing out by a single point.

At the other end of the table, Burton Albion have flirted with relegation from the third tier consistently, with the SuperComputer predicting their luck will finally run out this season and they will finish bottom of League One.

This is worked out by a specifically curated code, which works as a probability model to predict the outcome of every single League On match and then simulates every fixture 1,000 times.

Supporters are less confident than the SuperComputer, with many expecting another struggle.

This is due to a lack of progress off the field and Dai Yongge remaining at the helm while showing no interest in funding the Royals.
