Swindon 1-4 Man City LIVE! Palmer goal - FA Cup result, match stream and latest updates today

Swindon Town vs Manchester City - LIVE!

The Premier League champions made light work of their lower league opposition on Friday night.

While Harry McKirdy’s goal to pull one back for the home side as City led by three goals gave Swindon something to shout about, City largely controlled the evening with an elegant ease so often seen across other competitions.

Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus (who also missed a penalty), Ilkay Gundogan and the excellent Cole Palmer ensured even a City side without Pep Guardiola made it through to the fourth round and avoided what would have been one of the biggest upsets of all time.

Swindon did give a good account of themselves but ultimately and understandably just couldn’t match a side who are still able to field a team many in Europe would envy even despite their recent Covid problems

The FA Cup is back. Isn’t it glorious?

City settling

They’ve not had it easy by any means but this is the kind of game they kill so many top level teams with.

CHANCE FOR CITY

Swindon-ball

20:05 , Jonathan Gorrie

04:00 - What’s so impressive about Swindon is their ability to play out from the back.

When City lose the ball, there’s no panic from the home side, they string passes together in an effort to build a fast counter-attack.

Latest Man City team news

17:58 , Jonathan Gorrie

Pep Guardiola and assistant Juanma Lillo will both miss the match with City’s Covid-19 cases topping 21 on Thursday, seven of which are first-team players. Assistant coach Rodolfo Borrell will take charge from the dugout.

Phil Foden and Oleksandr Zinchenko both missed the win at Arsenal after testing positive, while Riyad Mahrez is at AFCON and John Stones is a doubt due to a knock.

Borrell told reporters: “It’s possibly one of the easiest line-ups to decide: we just play with the ones available. We don’t have many more.”
