The football event of the summer continues this weekend, with the next England game of the Euro 2024 coming up on Tuesday.

We've listed all the best places to watch the action in the company of family and friends.

Of course, every football fan would love to go see the match live in Germany, but for Swindon locals not fortunate enough to get tickets, a pub is a great place to still soak up the atmosphere.

With two games already under England's belt, Swindon pubs have seen fans fill up beer gardens and crowd around TVs to enjoy all the action on the big screen.

Even more fans are expected to return when England take on Slovenia on Tuesday, June 25 at 8pm.

So here is a list of some of the best taverns in town to catch the big event, based on the pubs most highly recommended by Swindon locals.

Let us know if there are any we've missed and where you'll be watching.

Eight best pubs and bars in Swindon to watch the Euros 2024 in

The Abbey Meads, Elstree Way - Showing every game of the Euros 2024 live on its screens, The Abbey Meads comes highly recommended by local football fans.

The establishment promises "an atmosphere as electric as being in the stadium itself - but with the added benefit of your favourite pint in hand."

As well as big screens for football, the pub also offers an outdoor beer garden, darts board, free wifi, and it is dog friendly.

But football fans are encouraged to call and book ahead as it can get particularly busy during Euros season.

The Ridge, Shaw Ridge Leisure Park - The Ridge has really gone above and beyond with a Euro Fan Zone showing all of the games specifically for football fans.

The Euros is shown on a large LED cinema screen, and the pub offers a pop-up bar serving beers and cocktails, food, football merch and even pyrotechnics to get the celebrations going.

The pub is also family friendly with a family zone, face painting, a BBQ and more so everyone can cheer on the England together.

The Queens Tap, Station Road - Dating back to 1841, The Queens Tap is one of the oldest surviving pubs in the area, and perfectly located for those stepping of a train and hoping to still catch the football.

The pub has been described as "the place to be for live sport, a catch up with mates, a cheeky pint after work, a tasty meal or even to dance the night away."

All sporting fixtures are shown live in HD, and there are two screens outside, but once again it's best to call ahead and book here.

The Steam Railway Co, Newport Street - More locals recommended The Steam Railway as the place to be for this Euros and it's not hard to see why.

No booking is needed and every fixture is being shown in HD.

As well as showing the Euros, the pub also hosts an interactive Talk Sport quiz every week.

"We might not serve Vindaloo, but we can assure you we're on the ball when it comes to being the best place to watch the England games," said a spokesperson for the pub.

The Wichel Inn, Frogden Lane - Not only is the Wichel Inn showing every match of the Euros 2024, but it even offers the chance to get your very own Budweiser bucket hat to wear while you watch.

The Wichel Inn has indoor and outdoor seating and TVs, and if you book ahead to secure your table you can choose the Budweiser bottle bundle to get in the first round of beers and receive a free hat.

The Merlin, Drove Road - The Merlin is a popular choice for Swindon football fans, as it's everything you'd expect a pub to be - good pints, good grub and a great atmosphere.

Staff recommend booking in advance, particularly on those knock-out matches, and due to the number of matches on each day all table bookings will have a maximum time limit.

"We’ll be showing the action inside & out so come make the most of our cracking beer garden whilst the sun is shining," said a spokesperson for the pub.
