West Indies have been dealt with a major blow with star all-rounder Fabien Allen ruled out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE and Oman. The defending champions have replaced Allen with Akeal Hosein.
The ace all-rounder, who was recently a part of IPL 2021, suffered an ankle injury during training ahead of the second warm-up clash and will miss the entire global tournament. Fabien Allen, who came up the ranks in recent times, will be missed by West Indies.

Alongside a T20I bowling average of 27.05 and economy of 7.21, Fabien Allen also has a batting strike rate of 138.88 and average of 17.85, while being a firm contender for the title of the world’s greatest fielder.
Akeal Hosein named Fabien Allen’s replacement
Akeal Hosein, who was initially in the reserve list will now join the main team following approval from the Event Technical Committee. In turn, Hosein will be replaced on West Indies’ reserves list by Gudakesh Motie.
The Trinidadian cricketer has represented West Indies in nine ODIs and six T20Is matches and will be a great addition to the squad.
West Indies will play against Afghanistan in their final warm-up game leading to the global event. After a shocking defeat against Pakistan, the Caribbeans will be desperate to bounce off the blocks and enter the main tournament with a win.
West Indies are scheduled to begin their T20 World Cup campaign against England on October 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. They are placed in the group of deaths, alongside Australia, South Africa, England, and two qualifying teams.
