After all the talk and expectation, Taylor Swift came and delivered.

Three separate concerts and three nights that no-one in attendance will ever forget. The three performances showed why she is a master of her craft.

And they all took place just a short walk from Goodison Park. Thousands of Swifites will have even walked past Everton’s famous old ground on their way to and from Anfield.

Ever since the Taylor Swift juggernaut rolled into the city, Liverpool has once again showcased that nowhere can quite put on a show like it can.

But as Anfield was abuzz with excitement and Swifites were preparing for what for many will have been the night of their lives, across Stanley Park, Everton continue to prepare for the biggest move in their history.

The club’s new location on the banks of the Mersey is taking shape. In fact, by the end of this year, the Bramley-Moore Dock development should be completed.

However, and as previously reported by the ECHO, the club has taken the decision to play the whole of next season at Goodison before making the move to Bramley-Moore for the start of the 2025/26 campaign.

The club has also confirmed that there will be a series of events to mark their departure from Goodison, their home since 1892, throughout the 2024/25 season. But what about more events at Bramley-Moore Dock?

First things first, the stadium will be used primarily for the playing of Everton’s home matches, but given the location and design, it really needs to be used for so much more.

It has already been confirmed that the new stadium will proudly fly the flag for the city of Liverpool at the men’s Euro 2028 Championship. The Blues’ stunning new home will be one of 10 venues to stage matches.

There is also a life outside of football. In the world of sports, there is no reason why Bramley-Moore can’t be hosting boxing matches, rugby league’s Magic Weekend or the European Rugby Champions Cup final, just like Tottenham Hotspur did last month.

But what this week has shown is that there is a massive opportunity to be had around music concerts. The fact that Taylor Swift picked Liverpool as a tour destination speaks volumes.

It comes off the back of an impressive few years for the city in terms of hosting big music events. Liverpool’s staging of the Eurovision Song Contest won praise from across the world.

Around half a million people descended on the city during the spectacular two weeks of music and events coinciding with the hosting of the continental music competition.

As reported by the ECHO following the conclusion of the event, Liverpool Council said it had surpassed its initial targets of 100,000 visitors and is now turning its focus on how it can maximise the legacy of having the eyes of the world on the city.

Then, earlier this month, Cunard's newest cruise ship came to town. The city once again came out in force to welcome the Queen Anne liner into Liverpool for her naming ceremony. The event included a special performance from the legendary Andrea Bocelli.

This reporter was lucky enough to attend the opening night of Swift’s three sell-out shows at Anfield, and to say it was memorable would be an understatement. A new name entered Anfield folklore.

But while it is impossible to predict the Blues' results or even who will be running the club in the coming months, one thing that can be said with confidence is that Liverpool is now a place the stars want to come and perform in.

Which presents Everton with a huge opportunity. There is absolutely no reason why the club’s new home cannot become the permanent venue for the biggest and best outdoor concerts in the North of England.

Swift's Anfield gigs showed Liverpool at its best, and the time has come for the Blues to get in on the act. The opportunity that will soon be presented to them must be taken with both hands.
