Argentina’s Boca Juniors Carlos Tevez arrives at a hotel in Madrid on December 5, 2018.

Carlos Tevez believes that moving the Copa Libertadores final second leg to Madrid is “embarrassing for the people.”

The Boca Juniors striker told the BBC World Service Sport: “It is a bit weird to play here but it is important for us to focus on how the game will be in Madrid.”

“I think it is embarrassing for the people, not so much for the players,” he continued.

“They took away our dream of playing the final in our country.”

The match will be played at Real Madrid’s Bernabeu Stadium on Sunday after November’s second leg was twice postponed after an attack on the Boca team bus by fans of River Plate.

“It is important because it is still a final,” the 34 year old explained.

“It is rare because of where it is going to be played, but it is still a Copa Libertadores final.”

The game was postponed in part due to injuries suffered by the Boca players, with some suffering cuts from broken windows, and Tevez was himself pictured struggling to breathe after exposure to tear gas.

The first leg ended in a 2-2 draw.
