Thierry Henry gives Monaco youngster death stare for not pushing chair in

If Monaco manager Thierry Henry was hoping for a comfortable introduction to football management, he hasn’t got it in the south of France.

The Monégasques endured a nightmare start to the season under former boss Leonardo Jardim and Henry is so far struggling to turn results around, having only won two of his 10 matches in charge.

Having cut coaching his teeth with Arsenal’s youth teams and then as Belgium’s assistant coach, Monaco is Henry’s first appointment as head coach.

In the past the Frenchman has spoken about the impact Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger have had on his career but stressed he wants to create his own managerial style.

“You learn from people; they inspire you. But you also need to put your own little mix in it,” he said.

And we saw a taste of that ahead of Monaco’s Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund, when youngster Benoit Badiashile felt the wrath of his boss after the end of a press conference.

After answering questions ahead of the clash with the Bundesliga leaders, both player and manager headed for the exit door.

But Henry’s route was blocked because Badiashile, 17, failed to tuck in his chair.

Badiashile will be hoping to get back in Henry’s good books on Wednesday night with a good performance against Dortmund.

Monaco currently sit bottom of their Champions League group with just a single point and no hope of even qualifying for the Europa League after losing to third-placed Club Brugge 4-0.

Monaco’s struggles aren’t just restricted to the Champions League – they currently sit 19th in Ligue 1, three points from safety and with just three wins all season.

However, there are flickering signs of life with Monaco winning two of their last three Ligue 1 matches and Henry will be hoping to keep that momentum going into Sunday’s match with high-flying Lyon.
