Thomas Partey: I’d only give myself four out of ten for Arsenal performances so far

Thomas Partey says he would give his performances for Arsenal since joining the club last year only four out of ten.

Partey’s signed for the Gunners from Atletico Madrid in a deadline day deal last October that was hailed as a coup for the club.

While the Ghanaian has shown glimpses of his talent, a string of injuries have largely prevented him from having the desired impact on a consistent basis.

With Granit Xhaka out injured, the Gunners are relying on Partey in the centre of midfield, with the inexperienced Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, as well as the rarely used Mohamed Elneny, Mikel Arteta’s only other fit options.

However, the 28-year-old came in for criticism after last week’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford, and will be desperate to bounce back as Arsenal face Everton this evening.

“I give myself four [out of 10], because there are moments I can really hurt the other team but there are also moments where I allow myself to lose focus and that’s when everything goes down,” Partey told Sky Sports.

“This is when you realise that you have to get better.

“From the start [of the Manchester United game] I had a couple of moments where I gave two balls away and someone watching on TV from home or in the stadium, it is normal that they see this.

“At the end, I have to be happy with some moments, I have to learn from the bad parts and try to do better. I think they demanded more and personally I know I can give more. I have to keep working and at the end I will get the results.”
