Thompson hurls second straight no-hitter for Riders' win

Apr. 11—SALLISAW — Ethan Thompson threw his second straight no-hitter with a 17-strike-out performance against the Roland Rangers.

Thompson's performance led the way to a 5-2 win on Thursday, April 11 in the Sallisaw Central Tournament. A pair of errors gave the Rangers their lone runs in the bottom of the second inning to make the game 2-1 in favor of RHS.

HHS eventually knotted the score when Dusty Tedder scored on a passed ball in the top of the third inning. After three innings of tied baseball, the Riders capitalized on a walk and an error to take their first lead of the game in the fifth inning 3-2. Two more errors opened the door for 3-runs in the inning to secure the lead.

After taking the lead, Thompson struck out the final 6 outs to take the win and send the Riders to the winner's side of the bracket. HHS will be back in action at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 12 against Nowata.
