In just three days time, the eyes of the football fans across Europe will be on Germany as the 2024 European Championships get underway.

Scotland face up against the hosts in match one, before a month of footballing drama unfolds from Berlin to Munich, and everywhere in between.

Struggling at the bottom end of most division tables in the last decade, it is no surprise to see few familiar faces to Reading at the tournament.

However, there will be a few to keep an eye on so take a look below.

Nathan Ake- Netherlands

Perhaps the biggest former Royal at the tournament, Ake only wore the hoops for a fleeting period but left an impact.

On loan from Chelsea for a month in 2015, the classy operator played five times and looked too good to be in the Championship for long.

That proved the case, remaining in the Premier League ever since for the likes of Chelsea, Bournemouth and Manchester City, lifting four top-flight titles at the Etihad Stadium.

Battling the likes of Virgil Van Dijk and Matthijs De Ligt for a centre-back role, Ake has earned 45 caps for the Dutch national team.

George Puscas- Romania

The club's record signing, Puscas burst onto the scene on debut after switching from Inter Milan when he grabbed a stunning brace against Cardiff City.

After a more than respectable 14-goal debut campaign, the move went from bad to worse for the striker as he was sent on a series of loans to Italy before sealing a permanent move away in the summer.

He ended his Royal spell with 20 goals in 95 appearances and has 11 goals in 42 full caps for Romania.

Zurab Khizanishvili- Georgia

Possibly a bit of a cheat, it is unlikely that 42-year-old former Reading defender Khizanishvili will appear at Euro 2024.

However, the former Blackburn Rovers and Rangers regular is assistant boss with his national team and will be on the bench.

Featuring 92 times for Georgia as a player, the centre-back made 42 appearances for the Royals between 2010 and 2011.
