Three key battles in Tottenham v Liverpool

Kane v Klavan

Jurgen Klopp’s summer signing struggled badly in Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat by Burnley at Turf Moor last weekend. Harry Kane played in a deeper role in Tottenham’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace last time out and Spurs could look to drag Klavan out of position and expose the Estonian defender as Burnley did so successfully.

Rose v Mane

Sadio Mane has already produced one exceptional performance in north London this season. The Senegal international gave Calum Chambers and Nacho Monreal a tough afternoon as the £30m summer signing scored a superb fourth in Liverpool’s 4-3 victory over Arsenal. Danny Rose is an established England international and part of a Tottenham defence that was the best in the Premier League last year. Who comes out on top in this battle could decide the outcome of Saturday’s early kick-off.

Eriksen v Henderson

With Emre Can struggling with injury, Jordan Henderson has played the captain’s role and shuffled into a deeper role to supposedly protect the back four. Liverpool conceded six times in their opening two Premier League games, which suggests there is work to be done. Christian Eriksen will be looking to exploit Henderson, who isn’t a naturally defensive-minded player. Along with Erik Lamela and Dele Alli, Tottenham could expose Liverpool’s leaky defence if Henderson vacates his position.
